Xiaomi does not intend to lag behind Samsung and its competitors in the field of foldable smartphones. The Chinese manufacturer is still absent from the foldable model market, and announces the imminent presentation of its first-of-its-kind device, the Mix Flip.
Foldable smartphones are in the spotlight in July, and Samsung, as usual, is likely preparing to unveil new models of this type, including the Galaxy Z Flip 6. Motorola has also just put on sale the latest generation of devices of this type, the Razr 50 and 50 Ultra while Xiaomi is refining its weapons. The Chinese brand, which introduces a new foldable model called the Mix Fold every year, is gearing up for innovation.
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun announced that the brand has just opened a new generation smart factory in China, in Beijing, and that it is now operational. The company's director took the opportunity to point out that the site will produce new smartphones that have not yet been announced: Mix Fold 4 and Mix Flip. A rather logical announcement: Honor (for example) is reserving the production of its Magic V foldable models for its smart – i.e. automated – factory, as we saw during our visit to the site, in 2023.

What to expect from these foldable smartphones? First, expand marketing, as evidenced by Li Jun's ambitions. The 81,000 square meter factory is “capable of producing 10 million flagship phones per year”, which undoubtedly also includes monoblock smartphones. The mere mention of such ambitions indicates that Xiaomi - which has been popular for several months - intends to produce enough products to market them internationally, without being limited to China. Above all, the Mix Fold 4 will be accompanied by the Mix Flip, Xiaomi's first foldable smartphone, which has been the subject of rumors for several months, but whose existence has been confirmed for the first time by the manufacturer.

Formalization is scheduled before the end of July
The Mix Flip will be officially launched before the end of July 2024, alongside the Mix Fold 4. Its technical sheet has not been specified at the moment, while the Fold 4 sheet has become more detailed. Following the attractive Mix Fold 3, the smartphone will be equipped (according to leaker Evan Blass) with a high-end technical sheet that includes a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, a battery of no less than 5,000 mAh, and a 50-megapixel main photo. A module accompanied by the Leica seal, but also IPx8 certification, which the Mix Fold 3 lacks. Xiaomi has also managed to significantly reduce the size of its smartphone, which could be less than 10 mm, or 1 mm less than the Fold 3.
